Tourist Visa
Valid US Passport
Applicants for Nigerian visas will have to submit their current undamaged passport, and it must contain one blank visa page. The passport must be signed and valid for six months from the date of departure.
Visa Application
For a Nigerian visa, applicants must fill out an online visa application form. The Embassy of Nigeria has introduced a web-based visa application form and payment procedure for a more convenient way to obtain a visa. The visa application form must be submitted and paid for online. Please print two copies of the completed visa application.
Visa Photos
- Two passport photos should be 2” x 2” on an all-white background.
- Photo should be taken within the last six months.
- Photos should be printed on high-quality photo paper.
Invitation Letter Copy
If you are visiting family or friends in Nigeria, you must provide:
- A copy of the letter of invitation from the host explaining the relationship between themselves and the application as well as the purpose of travel. The letter must also indicate the length of the stay, place of stay, and contact information. Also stated in the letter should be “We hereby accept full immigration responsibilities.”
- A copy of the host’s passport or ID if they are a Nigerian citizen.
Hotel Reservation
You will have to provide a copy of the hotel reservation or a letter from the hosting family or friend to prove that applicants have housing accommodations.
Travel Itinerary
If you have a copy of your flight itinerary or ticket, please include it with the other documents (optional).
Proof of Sufficient Funds
Your most recent bank statement is required as you must submit evidence of sufficient funds to support your stay in Nigeria.
Non-US Citizen Proof of US Immigration Status
You must provide proof of your current United States immigration status (status of H1-B, H-4, L1, I-120 copies) or a copy of your Green Card front/back.

If you are processing your application by mail, fill out the Service Order Form and send it along with the supporting documents.

These fees are prepaid by the applicant online.

Business Visa
Invitation Letter
A signed letter of invitation from the host individual or company in Nigeria that explains the relationship and the purpose of travel is required. The letter must indicate the length of stay, place of stay, and contact information. Also stated in the letter should be, “We hereby accept full immigration responsibilities.”
Business Letter from US Company
Applicants must submit a business letter from the US company. The letter must be signed by an appropriate person in the applicant’s company, such as an HR representative, executive, or direct supervisor of the visa holder. The business letter must introduce the applicant, state the position the applicant holds in the company, and clearly state the purpose of the applicant’s visit to Nigeria. Detailed contact information for the organization must also be included.
The business letter must state the validity of the visa required and indicate who will be financially responsible for the applicant.
Temporary Work Visa
Telegram Issued by Government (Cable)
Applicants will have to provide a telegram cable from the Department of Immigration in Nigeria. The telegram should show that the Temporary Work Permit is approved. The telegram is only valid for two months from the date of issue.
Business Letter from US Company
Applicants must submit a business letter from the US company. The letter must be signed by an appropriate person in the applicant’s company, such as an HR representative, executive, or direct supervisor of the visa holder. The business letter must introduce the applicant, state the position the applicant holds in the company, and clearly state the purpose of the applicant’s visit to Nigeria. Certificate of Incorporation
The Nigerian Consulate requires that applicants submit a copy of the Certificate of Incorporation. The Nigerian government issues the certificate, and all companies in Nigeria should have one. Applicants will have to contact the company you will be visiting in Nigeria to obtain a copy.
